Release Notes for Win CE AEGIS Client

September 2005

Version 2.1.7 replaces versions 2.1.4 and 2.1.5.

Problems fixed between 2.1.4 and 2.1.7

  • Re-authentication without fast resumption and EAP-PEAP/MSCHAPv2
During a PEAP session resumption, the client now conditionally attempts a fast reconnect based on whether or not the server requests a full authentication.(Ref #10471)
  • WPA-PSK with only numeric characters
Failures when using Pre-Shared Keys with numeric characters only has been fixed. (Ref #10725)
  • Providing credentials for tunneled authentication
When setting the "ask" mode for providing the tunneled (protected) credentials, the following issues have been fixed: (Ref #10824,10830)
    • Setting of the unprotected identity (in the upper pane) continues to be allowed and is passed in the identity response message.
    • Entering tunneled credentials remains disabled even when the authentication protocol is changed.
  • Selective Device Issues:
    • Incomplete scan list (Samsung chip set)
An issue with some devices (that exhibit slow internal refreshing) with maintaining an updated scan list has been fixed. (Ref #10846)
    • Suspend/Resume operation (TI chip set)
An issue with recovering the client's operation after a suspend/resume operation has been fixed. (Ref #10583)
    • WPA support (TI chip set)
Support for WPA has been fixed. (Ref #10569)
    • Access Point disassociation (Motorola)
An issue with disassociating from an access point has been fixed. (Ref #11161)
    • WPA Setting (Motorola)
Full access to all WPA Setting modes has been fixed. (Ref #11162)

Workarounds for all Tested Platforms

  • Network names
Since the BSSID of the network is allowed to contain unprintable characters, non-text squares may show up in the names in the available network list. (Ref #1328)

    Workaround:
Ignore the characters if you believe the SSID is valid, or ignore the network entry if it appears that the driver is malfunctioning.
  • Certificate installation
If while installing a certificate on the handheld device you enter a wrong password you will be correctly notified by a message reading “Incorrect password”. However a follow-up prompt to allow entering the password again is missing. (Ref #1791)

Workaround: Run the certadd utility again.
